This Journey Started...
as a way to feel connected to the places I was missing: Ohio, Lake Erie, and Vermont. It grew into practice that helped me put down new roots and draw connections to my new home in Idaho.
My goal for Neatline Designs is to create beautiful artwork to stick, hang, and wear as a reminder of where we are, where we've been, where we come from, or maybe even where we are going.
Why Mandalas?
In Sanskrit “Mandala” means ‘circle.’ They are sacred symbols that are used across many cultures for meditation, prayer, healing, and art therapy.
I draw mandalas because I find the practice to be meditative. One line leads to, informs, and directs the next...slowly, the design emerges.
My favorite thing about mandalas is that they are imperfect.
They are a reflection of the flaws and rawness we find in nature. But just like with our natural world, you look at the design as a whole, the imperfections seem to disappear and all that’s left is the beauty of the pattern. The lines could go on infinitely, like the vastness of the cosmos. The body, or outline, is filled with and connected to the patterns of the universe.
So when you wear your favorite Neatline Designs shirt, or look at the mandala sticker on your Hydroflask, I hope a piece of you remembers to slow down and reflect on the imperfect beauty around you 😊
What happened to Stretch and Explore?
We got a new name! While we love to stretch and explore, and we loved the special meaning behind our first name we're pretty excited about this new one too!
